Paint can tool

I was at Menards today and saw the woman in the paint department using a tool for reseating the paint can lid. It hooks on the lip of the can, like a bottle opener, and when you lift up it pushes the lid back into the groove. It was a Tool Shop® brand tool and cost $.95. I bought it and it works great. Maybe everyone else has seen these, but I haven't and thought it was a great idea. You don't have to worry about paint splattering when you put the lid on like it does when you smack the lid with a mallet. It also opens paint cans and bottles of beer, what more could you want.

I have something like that with a rim hole punch. The trick to spattering paint is wipe out the groove,it also gives the lid a better seal.

Yea, I keep a sixteen penny nail next to the can opener to make a couple holes as soon as I open a can for the first time. Sure makes it easier to clean the groove when most of the paint has drained back into the can.
