Hey,
I am new here, and this site is VERY helpful. Wish i would have found it before i went out and bought a book about this!

Anyways, I am wondering if anyone might know a fairly easy way to paint a checkerboard underneath the flames. Like paint the black and white squares(abt 1 inch by 1 inch), then paint the flames over that. Is this possible, and how hard would it be???

First, tape off the square that you want to contain the board.
Then spray the area that you want the checkerboard in all white, then get some 1" (or however big you want your squares) fineline tape. Lay them out side by side. Now pull every other one back up.
Then lay another layer across it going the other way. Lay these pieces side by side. Now pull up every other piece. Spray the open squares black. I would suggest just lightly spraying the black. Kind of like fogging it in from one corner of your board to another. This will give it a "shadow" effect.
You should now have your checkerboard.

Now you will have to layout and spray your flames over this pattern.
Make sure you use fineline tape, not masking tape.
Hope this helps
