need info on paints

i am just starting out so what i need to know is what type of paint is good to pratice with, also is there a site to get pieces to pratice on, what do you guys use to pratice with thanks

Welcome to the CPF. You can pretty much try any bc/cc system. The basecoats are fairly easy to use, but the clearcoats are kind of tricky.

As far as test panels, can go to a metal shop and pick up some scrap pieces of metal, or stop by a dealership bodyshop and pick up some scrap fenders, hoods or deck lids to practice on. These are a great way to get some practice on painting panels that have some curve to them.

For now find a auto paint supply store and get some of the cheapest base coat/clearcoats (BC/CC) they have. You don't want to spend a lot of money on practice paints. Now get a junk fender like TAZ said and go at it. For the airbrush paints I'm not sure. I don't airbrush. My hands are to shakey. People tell me they like Auto Air Colors though.
