Finished my first flame job yesterday!! Thanks for all the info on this board. The flames and the paint turned out perfect!!!!
I used dupont chromacoat. Started with a real teal base (two coats) then venetian blue pearl ( five coats), two coats of clear. Let this dry overnight, then taped the flames. Shot the flames with three coats of gold pearl, then did the tips with a copper colored pearl (three coats) Then two more coats of clear, let it all dry for two hours. Removed the flame tape. Then began wet sanding the flame edges starting with 800 grit paper and finishing with 2000 grit paper. The applied three final coats of clear. The flip flop is unbelievable!!!!!! I'll post the pics when I get it all back together in the readers ride section. One things for sure I couldn;t have done it without all the info on this site!!!!! And a good friend with a paint booth!!! No dirt in the paint!!! No nothing. I don't even need to worry about buffing..
Thanks again!!
Bill
