Find where you want your taper and let off the trigger while still sweeping past your stoping point.

-----------] (] is where you want the taper)
-----------] --- } (} is final stoping point)

You may have to do the first coat like this
-----------]---}
THen a second like this
------]---}
An possibly a third like this
--]---}

i like to angle my gun at my fade point. i'll keep the gun at 90 degree till i get to the point i want to fade, then i'll go20-30 degree w the gun and paint my fade point at that area.

if i want a fade to where you don't see a fade line. i'll mix my paint 50/50 for each color, start in the middle and go the opposite directions

red/whatever else color (just be carefull you don't mix it w/ white=pink)

100/0--80/10--60/20--50/50--20/60--10/80--0/100

something like that.
