What would be a good da sander to purchase in the $100 or less price range? I've been looking and they have the chinese crap anywhere from $25up then I found a ingersol rand 300 da at lowes for $87, their kobalt brand for $89, husky for around $80, devilbiss for $86 I used t have a hutchins till it grew legs and walked off from my uncles shop but I know can't afford anothor of those right now. Any input suggestions or recomendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Good deal. I was going to post why not find a 'good' used DA. Was going to mention ebay, but sounds like you found a great deal on CL

Yea for the price I paid I stole that sander..... I got home with it and installed my air fitting and adjusted the speed limiter on that thing and it worked like a brand new one..... I had buddys telling me I shouldn't have bought it without trying it out but at $30 for a tool I know i can get replacement parts for I'll take that gamble any day of the week.... Now I just need to buy me a new 6" 3M stikit pad and some more sand paper and get after it....

Be sure and get you a 'thick' pad. I feel these work better than the low profile pads.
These work better to get into tight areas along with working on curved surfaces.

Also, one thing about your DA. If you are doing bodywork, you probably want to make sure you got a longer throw. These have an aggressive orbit and really cut into whatever you are sanding. If you have a short throw, these are the best sanders for finishing. You can always look up the part number and compare it to the other DAs that the mfg has to offer to see if which one you have. If you even care....lol
Either one can do the rough in and the finish sanding, but it's nice to have one for each. If you sanding bodywork with your DA and you have a shorter throw, it will take quite a bit longer to sand

Thanks for the input, the sander I bought's the PS4612 with a 3/16" orbit. I got a 3M hookit II 3/4"thk hook loop pad with it but it's worn out and falling apart and after thinking about I want to replace it with the same type cause I don't really care for having to tear apart a sanding disc that's fused itself to the pad. I like how that pad feels so I'm going to either replace it with the same or one similar to it. Any recommendations on and alternative brand pad that would work well and cost less than the 3m stuff?

And you were right at that price I didn't care which one it was.....lol

Next up any recommendations for a good inline sander other than the hutchins brand cause that's out of my price range for a while...

Keep in mind, I don't think 3M uses Hookit II anymore. I think they went back to Hookit. Pretty sure on this.
So you will need to get the original Hookit pad. You may want to double-check that with a local auto bodyshop jobber.

As far as an air file, I haven't used one for probably 15 years or so. My favorite alternative to that is a "Mud Hog" (8" DA)

Cool, thanks for the info... I had a real chance to put some use on that da and dang it's a very nice unit... I had a buddy that has an a high end IR 6" da give it a try and compare it to his sander and he agrees with me there's no comparison to that snapon... I've used it for about 2hrs total this weekend and it's worked like clockwork the entire time, I can't believe that guy sold it to me for only $30, money very well spent.
