Paint brand new outboard motor

twier

New member
Hello,

I am thinking of buying a brand new in the box outboard motor then repainting it to match this classic 1958 Evinrude (that I'm about to give up on).
Like was done on this new Nissan turned into a green Johnson. My question is how much sanding, prep work would need to be done to repaint a new motor?
Thanks

You really shouldn't need much at all. You should be able to just hand sand it. Maybe with 320 or 400 dry paper (or wet)
If there are any 2-tone lines on the new cover, then of course you'll need to level these out
