Hello everyone. I am not sure if I’m in the right place or not. I recently took an interest in painting. However, not so much in buildings as I am already pretty good at that. I wouldn’t call myself a professional but it does look good in the end.

The idea came to me that I would like to paint the rims on my car, however.. I did not want to use rattle cans. I wanted to buy a HVLP setup. Whether it was anodized paint or powder coating I’m not sure. That’s why I am here. If you could spare a couple moments of your time to help out a novice painter I would greatly appreciate it as I have went to the local shops and no one really wants to share anything with me. (Frustrating)

What would I need for a basic HVLP setup? Compressor, rags, etc

How do I know when to mix paint with lacquer or thinner etc?

Best types of HVLP?

Really ALL advice is welcome. I would like to start painting my rims and maybe my friends and if I find it to be enjoyable maybe I will move along to other small parts of automobiles.

(Please take it easy on me, I am a novice)

Thanks for reading!
