mineral spirits,soap & water,preservative?

what is the best way to clean my brushes?after I'm finished with my project,do I soak them in mineral spirits then wash them out with mild soap and water and put them in brush preserving oil?I'm just looking for the correct way thats somewhat inexpensive cause I cant afford to screw up alot of brushes to figure this out. thanx guys for any tips.

I think there was a post on this already. You might want to do a 'search' for it.
I don't remember what it entails (not a pinstriper).
If you don't find it, let us know. Maybe another member can help you out.

I know it maybe somewhat late, But just clean your brushes in mineral spirits then use a good brush preservative. Never use soap and water to clean or rinse your brushes. The thread wrap glue on the handle is water soluable.

Mack brush may not agree with me but I say never get water on the brush . Initially clean in lac thinner and use 1-shot reducer or 100 mineral spirits paint thinner. Never water it ruins the hairs.
