Looking for a Decent Gun

I am looking for a decent all around gun that doesn’t cost as arm and a leg. I plan on painting mostly small stuff, motorcycle parts and the like. The Devilbiss Finishline 4 FLG-670 looks like it might fit the bill.

What are your thoughts? Anything else I should be looking at?

Will the different tips allow me to use this gun for basecoat and clear?

Thanks for the input.

Welcome,

Though I haven't used this gun, The devilbiss spray gun finishline has been talked about on this forum quite a bit.
So I assume it's a decent starting gun that won't break the bank.

Also, a 1.3 should be a good tip to do both base and clearcoats.

looking at the Devilbiss FLG-670 kit that comes with 3 tip sizes... 1.3,1.5, and 1.8. Is there any advantage to having the larger tips?

So, if the 1.3 tip is good for BC and clear, why would they sell the kit with 2 larger tips? Just to cover people with different preferences? Or are they for thicker materials like primer?

Yes, you have different, primers, sealers, types of paints like enamels, flakes, lacquers, water
You may even use the gun for different purposes, house, furniture which uses different types of paints

Also 1.3 is just 'my' suggestion. Other painters may tell you 1.4, possibly even 1.5. I can't imagine anything bigger than that though.

I like using 1.3 for base and 1.4 for clear and a 1.5 for my primer. I used to use a 1.8 back in the enamel days.
Sounds like you wanted only buy 'one' gun that is for a dual purpose.
