Lacquer or Urethane

I just completed a sweet paintjob on my bike, thanks to the great advice and tips found here. I will be painting a friends bike next week. His bike was painted by a shop no longer in business, about 7 years ago. The current paint job is in good shape. Before I begin I need to know if it's lacquer or urethane, as I have been reading on this board that I cannot shoot urethane over lacquer due to incompatability problems. Is there any easy way to tell the difference between the two? Thanks for your help.

Soak a rag in lacquer thinner and set it on the paint for a minute or 2.If it melts the paint it's lacquer. It will usually load up in little balls if you sand it with something around 320 grit dry also.
