Hello,

Ive just discovered your board.

I am from Australia, and dont think painting varies much over here.

couple of questions. I have painted a few cars using base coat colours (eg white, blue yellows etc) in acrylic with clear coat over the top. is this what u refer to as base/clear?

I am interested in flaming my next ride, and wonder if i need to use a differnt paint system?

I use PPG acrylic at the moment.

I have aslo been reading other posts to get more info.

i am looking at painting dark red / burgundy with ghosted flames (will my bonnet louvres make this process too hard??)

do i use normal acrylic for my main colour (burgundy) with say a bluish pearl?? for the flames, then covered completely with another coat of clear?

Thanks for any advice

Cheers

when you use the word acrylic do you mean acrylic lacquer ?
If so you must use acrylic lacquer clear on the top and not a 2k acrylic urethane because it will probably delaminate .
the term base/clear usually means a proper single pot base color followed by a 2pot clear coat
Not an acrylic lacquer system.
ppg deltron basecoat or sikkens autobase or ppg cobra are all available in aussie and are true basecoat clear coat 2pot systems which are todays most common painting applications.
