first time flame job questions HELP

Heres my question , I am going to do a silver base coat and charcoal flames on top of it , with a black pinstripe. Would you use an intercoat clear between colors, or after the flames to give extra time before pinstriping the outline? I am not a very good pinstriper freehand , so I was think of masking the pinstripe on each side . leaving a 1/8 space between the tape to pinstripe between then removing the tape ?? Is that any easier ? Thats why I am not sure about the interclear because my basecoat DUPONT says 24 hr max before the clear / Help please Thanks
