dry spray

Scott,
Can air pressure cause dry spray? I know that the mixtures for my dupont clear coat are correct, but I continue to get a dry spray on the curves on my motorcycle tank. Also, how do you correct the previous sprayed problem? jgfiveash@yahoo.com

Hello,
Yes, your air pressure could give you dry spray, but since it appears you are only getting it on the curved areas of the tank and not the flat top surface, I think it is because when you are spraying, you are not staying a consistent distance from the tank with your spray gun. In other words, you are at a farther distance away from the tank on the curves then you are on the flat surfaces, thus giving you dry spray.

When you're spraying, every once in a while, glance at your gun and spray to make sure it is pointed directly to the surface and you are at a consistent distance.
Hope this helps!
