BEGINNERS NEED TO KNOW THAT IF YOU ARE ALREADY WORKING WITH A GOOD PAINTED SURFACE THAT YOU DONT NEED TO PRIME IT IF IS A 2 PACK PAINT ALREADY.
TO TEST THIS RUB THINNERS ON IT AND IF IT WONT SOFTEN IT IS 2 PACK
THE LESS PAINT FILM BUILD ON ANY SURFACE THE BETTER.
BECAUSE IT WILL BECOME TOO BRITTLE AND STONE CHIPS ETC WILL BE BIGGER AND DEEPER AND THEREFORE HARDER TO REPAIR.
ALTHOUGH NOT ALWAYS PRACTICAL THE BEST PAINT FINISH ON A SECONDHAND PANEL IS TO STRIP ALL THE PAINT OFF TO THE STEEL , SO THEN YOU KNOW EXACTLEY WHAT YOU ARE WORKING WITH.
BRUSH ON ACID STRIPPER IS GOOD BUT MUST BE USED CAREFULLY.
2 PACK PAINTS ARE THE BEST ON THE MARKET AND WILL GIVE A WARRANTABLE FINISH .

Very true.I feel a sound paintjob properly prepped is a better sealer than using one.Surfacing primers are to finish out bodywork, and sealer primers are to give a solid surface for quick hiding in case your base or color is transparent.I remember a few colors that were awfull on spot repairs and needed way too many coats to cover a spot of sealer.Things are a bit better now and there is more to it than that, but it's a general description of things.
