Buffing Pad Tips

I great buffing tip is to use "foam pads" instead of the wool pads to buff and polish with. A great advantage to this is that the hairs from the wool pads do not fly everywhere (I hated that). The foam pads also do not cut as much, thus making the swirls easier to get out.

They make different grades of these foam pads. I personally use a coarse pad to start with, then I switch over to a "black waffle" pad.

Another advantage is you can use the 3M Velcro backing plate to make changing these pads very easy.

Be sure and use the right compound and polish with the right pad. I use the 05933 Compound with the coarse pad and the "foam polish glaze" with the waffle pad.

Correction on the compound number (although 05933 is good too), I use the 5936 and for the final, I use the 5996 Foam Polishing Pad Glaze.
