Buffing and sanding for flat and satin finishes

Hey guys what do you do to get your final finish for flat and satin paints? Ive been working with some flat black and I cant get the final finish to come out right. I laid the paint down and liked the sheen of the paint but the texture wasnt as smooth as I like. I started to wet sand with 1000grit then moved to 1500 grit it looked ok at that point but not great so I tried some turtle wax red rubbing compound. What I got was kind of a splotchy finish where its shinier in spots and duller in others.

any advice would help thanks.

You should be able to be spray and your done. No wetsanding, buffing or polishing.
Sounds like you might just be spraying it too dry.
Try applying a little wetter. It will appear like normal clearcoat, then it will start dulling out as it drys.
Keep your pressure a little lower to.

Thanks Taz, What I would like to know is the paint like the HOK the right stuff to use or is there something else a beginner airbrush artist should use...
