Body Filler?

Howdy,
What type of filler do you recomend for bare steel? I am working on a tank that has too many imperfections to cover with primar.
Also I plan on using an epoxy primer, what should I do to the bare steel before applying it? Wax & grease remover? Should it be sanded?

Big D,
I would recommnend sanding the metal best as possible with either 180 or 80 grit paper(depends on how bad the metal is). Then clean it with wax and grease remover, then spray a coat (or two) of self etching primer. If one coat of epoxy is used then
filler can be applied in approx. 30 minutes. If applying two coats of epoxy, wait approx. 60 minutes before applying the body filler. The epoxy does not need to be sanded before applying the body filler.

As a final coat I recommend using Evercoat putty which is a very easy to sand putty and is great to use before priming. Then go ahead and prime. I personally use D839 PPG epoxy primer.
